It's been a little over 5 months since His death. A day hasn't
passed since then when I have not thought about Him. I dream about Him
every night. I haven't been able to find a place to pour out without
being ridiculed. But I have finally found a place where I believe that
at least one person will read my message.
I started out like any other Michael Jackson fan.
I was about 10, maybe 8 or 9 when I heard one of His songs. I was
grabbed instantly. That beat, that voice, those moves, everything.
Slowly, over my late elementary years and through my middle school
years I began to imitate His every move, His every value of life, His
smile, His style, His hair, and so on. I was ridiculed then as well.
But I didn't care because when I first saw the Moon Walk video, I had
met the biggest and greatest hero of my life. I wore my hat, slightly
brought down in the front. I threw on any old glove on one hand. I
stepped out of that apartment door everyday ready to dance. And when I
heard about all of the past allegations and the new ones arising I
thought, "No way. He'd never do that". And I was right. However my
mother still wouldn't let me purchase His Number Ones when they were
released. But I did it anyway.
I was never one of those lucky
fans. I never got to see Him in concert. I never got to hug Him. I
was never anywhere near Him. I didn't get to know Him, even though
anyone could get to know Him just by watching His interviews or His
concerts on DVD. I wish I could have been one of those lucky fans.
Michael will never be able to hear me now. He'll never be able to know
me, or teach me how to dance, or laugh with me, or cry with me, or any
of that. None of us will be able to have that. Only the lucky ones
were able to.
As I grew older, high school made me throw out
all of what society called my "childish ways". He slowly drifted away,
but I never ceased to listen to His music. I danced when I could
(unprofessionally of course). I tried to sing when I could. I did
everything I could to keep Him there. He was always with me. Friends
began to know me for my obsession with video games, Japan, and Michael Jackson.
I tried my best to be the best person I could be. However, events
occurred and I slipped into drugs and racism. Sadly and ironically, it
was directed toward the African American community. Times were dark
but I still held onto Michael as hard as I could.
I graduated from High School in 2009. I found the love of my life.
I was voted Prom King with my Love and all that jazz. I was fortunate
enough to give a graduation speech as well. I was all set to go to
college. Life was good, things had become better. Although the racism
remained, I tried to see the good in those whom I have held prejudices
against. I began a college summer course this year, starting in June.
And then I got the news. As I sat on the couch watching a TV
program, my lover sent me a message. "Is Michael Jackson dead?". "Psh!
Is He dead? Of course not! How could He die? He's so young. He's got
50 tours coming up in England, He can't die!" Those were my thoughts in
that exact moment. How could He die? He's the King! But I was curious,
and a bit nervous. So I checked. I didn't believe it when I first
read it. I checked every single source and then flicked on the
news...To my dismay I found the horrible rumor to be true. My hero was
dead.
I was never one of those lucky fans. But this time I
thought I would have luck on my side. I had the money, I had the ride,
and I had the place to stay. I was going to make a trip to the Neverland Ranch
to pay my respects, thinking I would be part of the memorial. Plans
fell through at the last minute. Good thing too because I would have
been there for nothing when I heard about the raffle for the memorial
tickets. I took that as a sign. I was meant to get those tickets and
go and pay my respects. Everything was set up perfectly. I trusted
that luck and passion would bring me those tickets. But it didn't.
And once again, I was one of those unlucky fans.
I always felt like I was the only one with this bad luck. No matter, I decided to watch the memorial
on television. What I saw brought so many tears to my eyes. Before I
saw the memorial, His death didn't really hit me. I didn't accept it.
It was too surreal. But as I sat there listening and watching "I'll Be There", I knew He was gone.
Every since then He's been stuck in my mind. Everyday He was there.
I watched all of His tours and videos. I tried to finally learn to
dance like Him. And like I mentioned before, a day hasn't passed where
I don't think of Him. I stumbled across all of the conspiracies,
hoping they were true. Sometimes I feel like I would be the only fan
who didn't care if He actually faked it. I would be happy for Him,
knowing that no one would be able to bother Him anymore. I fantasize
about finding His hide out and having Him explain to me how He planned
it. I would still love Him just the same if not more. Which is one
thing I will never understand. I loved this man without even meeting
Him or talking to Him. That is what is truly amazing. The most
positive outcome of this was my cure of racism. He made me realize
that it didn't matter if you were Black or White or whatever. He changed me.
I will never be a lucky fan. I will never "see His ghost". I will
never find His hideout. I will never see Him running around the world
hiding from everyone. I will never hug Him, talk to Him, kiss Him,
dance with Him, cry with Him, have water balloon fights with Him,
anything you name it. I will never be able to meet anyone he has been
close to because of their status in society. I am a nobody and they
are all somebodies. No one of their stature would let me meet them.
Not even Michael. I will always be unimportant in the face of my
heroes, even as I continue to worship them. Some call this unhealthy,
others call me evil. But when has love ever been evil? I thought
Michael taught us all about love. No one will read this letter, no one
will care. It will wither away in the wind or wherever it ends up. It
will be deleted, defaced, and demented. The only person that would
read it will never read it. He's either dead or hiding from all of
this, too busy to car
e about us. But behind this bitter heart,
there will always lie a place for my most important hero. I will
always love Him no matter what happens. Even if he were to kick dirt
in my eye (though he never would). I will always love Michael Jackson.
Michael, if you ARE out there, with us or not...if you can read
this...I Love You. You didn't let me down. You didn't let US down.
We let you down Michael. I want to apologize for everyone and
everything that has ever hurt you. I will take on that burden, I will
lift it from your shoulders, I'll be there for you this time.

I love Michael so much and to think he is gone, it is impossible. My
heart can not handle it. I know in my heart he is still alive, there
are to many inconcistencies. Praise God
for that. I do not care if he does a come back tour. I mean, I would
seriously love to see him do it, but it is not required for me to see
that, if that is not what he wants, no way no how. It would be awesome
if he did though. If persuing acting or directing would be his hearts
